Door Ajar Messages

DRIVER DOOR OPEN

This message appears and a chime sounds if the driver door is not fully closed and the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park). Stop the vehicle, turn it off, check the door and surrounding area for any obstruction, and close the door securely. Then check the DIC to see whether the message remains displayed.

HOOD OPEN

On some models, this message appears and a chime sounds if the hood is not fully closed. Stop the vehicle, turn it off, check the hood area for anything preventing proper closure, and close the hood again. Afterward, check the DIC display to confirm that the message has cleared.

LEFT REAR DOOR OPEN

This message appears and a chime sounds if the driver side rear door is not fully closed and the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park). Stop and turn off the vehicle, inspect the door area for obstructions, and close the door firmly. Check the DIC display again to make sure the message no longer appears.

LIFTGATE OPEN

This message appears and a chime sounds if the liftgate is open while the ignition is in ON/RUN. Turn off the vehicle and check the liftgate to make sure it is not blocked, misaligned, or only partially latched.

Restart the vehicle and check the DIC display again to confirm whether the message has cleared.

PASSENGER DOOR OPEN

This message appears and a chime sounds if the front passenger door is not fully closed and the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park). Stop and turn off the vehicle, check the door for obstructions, and close it securely. Then check whether the message still appears on the DIC.

POWER LIFTGATE OFF

This message appears when the power liftgate function has been turned off by pressing the power liftgate button on the center console.

When this message is displayed, the liftgate may need to be operated manually until the power liftgate function is turned back on.

RIGHT REAR DOOR OPEN

This message appears and a chime sounds if the passenger side rear door is not fully closed and the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park).

Stop the Buick Enclave, turn it off, inspect the rear door for anything preventing it from closing correctly, and close the door again. Check the DIC display to make sure the message has cleared before continuing to drive.

Engine Cooling System Messages

ENGINE HOT A/C (Air Conditioning) OFF

This message appears when the engine coolant temperature rises above the normal operating range.

See Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge. To reduce additional load on a hot engine, the air conditioning compressor turns off automatically. When the coolant temperature returns to a normal range, the compressor turns back on and air conditioning operation resumes. In many cases, the vehicle can continue to be driven, but the condition should still be monitored carefully.

If this message continues to appear, have the Buick Enclave inspected and repaired by your dealer as soon as possible to help prevent engine damage.

ENGINE OVERHEATED IDLE ENGINE

Notice: Driving while the engine is overheating can cause severe engine damage. If an overheat warning appears on the instrument panel cluster and/or the DIC, stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.

Do not raise the engine speed above normal idle speed.

See Engine Overheating for more information.

This message appears when the engine coolant temperature is too high. Stop the vehicle safely and allow the engine to idle until the temperature begins to decrease. See Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge.

See Overheated Engine Protection Operating Mode for information about driving to a safe location during an emergency.

ENGINE OVERHEATED STOP ENGINE

Notice: Driving the vehicle while the engine is overheating can result in serious engine damage. If an overheat warning appears on the instrument panel cluster and/or DIC, stop the vehicle as soon as possible.

Do not increase the engine speed above normal idling speed.

See Engine Overheating for more information.

This message appears and a continuous chime sounds when the engine cooling system reaches a temperature that is unsafe for continued operation.

Stop and turn off the Buick Enclave as soon as it is safe to do so. This helps prevent severe engine damage. The message clears after the engine cools to a safe operating temperature.
