Buick Enclave: Emergency. Security. Navigation
Emergency
With Automatic Crash Response, the built-in OnStar system can automatically connect the vehicle to help after certain crash events, even if the driver or passengers are unable to request assistance. This feature is designed to support emergency communication when every second matters and when occupants may be disoriented, injured, or unable to reach a phone.
In a properly equipped Buick Enclave, Automatic Crash Response can help notify an OnStar Emergency Advisor that a crash may have occurred. The Advisor can attempt to communicate with the vehicle occupants and, when needed, provide important location and crash-related information to emergency responders.
Push
to connect to an Emergency
Advisor. GPS technology is used to identify the vehicle location and can provide
critical information to emergency personnel. The Advisor is also trained to offer
critical assistance in emergency situations.
This service can be especially valuable when the vehicle is in an unfamiliar area, on a highway, in bad weather, or in a situation where the occupants cannot clearly explain their location. The Advisor can stay connected when possible and help coordinate the next steps based on the condition of the vehicle and the people inside it.
Security
OnStar provides security-related services such as Stolen Vehicle Assistance, Remote Ignition Block, and Roadside Assistance, if the vehicle is equipped with these services and the proper service plan is active. These features are designed to help protect the vehicle, support recovery efforts, and provide assistance when an unexpected problem occurs.
OnStar can unlock the vehicle doors remotely if the vehicle is equipped with automatic door locks and the service is available. This can be useful if the keys are locked inside the vehicle or if access is needed in an urgent situation. For security reasons, identity or account verification may be required before remote unlock service is provided.
If the Buick Enclave is stolen, OnStar may be able to help police locate the vehicle, depending on equipment, signal availability, and active service status. Remote Ignition Block, where available, can help prevent the vehicle from being restarted after it has been turned off. These services are intended to assist law enforcement and should be used through the proper reporting process if theft is suspected.
Roadside Assistance through OnStar can also help connect the driver with support for situations such as a flat tire, dead battery, lock-out, or towing need. Availability and coverage may vary by service plan, vehicle equipment, and location.
Navigation
OnStar navigation requires the Directions and Connections service plan. When active, this service can help provide route guidance without requiring the driver to manually enter every destination. It is useful when traveling in unfamiliar areas, looking for a business or address, or needing directions while already on the road.
Push
to receive directions or have
them sent to the vehicle navigation screen. Destinations can also be forwarded to
the vehicle from Google Maps™ or MapQuest.com. The OnStar mapping database is continuously
updated. Visit www.onstar.com for coverage maps.
When directions are sent to the vehicle, the system can guide the driver with voice prompts and, when equipped, screen-based route information. This can reduce the need to handle a phone or search manually while driving. The driver should still confirm that the route is safe, legal, and appropriate for road conditions.
Turn-by-Turn Navigation
1. Push
to connect to a live Advisor.
2. Request directions.
3. Directions are downloaded to the vehicle.
4. Follow the voice-guided commands.
The Advisor can help locate a destination by address, business name, nearby point of interest, or general area when available. Once the route is downloaded, the system provides spoken instructions so the driver can keep attention on the road.
Using Voice Commands During a Planned Route
Voice commands allow the driver to manage an active route without using the navigation screen for every action. Speak clearly after the system tone and wait for the response before giving the next command. Background noise, open windows, or passengers speaking at the same time may affect recognition.
Cancel Route
1. Push
. System responds:
“OnStar ready,” then a tone.
Say “Cancel route.” System responds: “Would you like to cancel route directions
to your destination?”
2. Say “Yes.” System responds:
“OK, route canceled.”
3. Say “Goodbye.” Exits voice commands.
Use this command when the destination is no longer needed, the route has changed, or the driver wants to stop receiving guidance prompts.
Route Preview
1. Push
. System responds:
“OnStar ready,” then a tone.
2. Say “Route Preview.” System responds with the next three maneuvers.
3. Say “Goodbye.” Exits voice commands.
Route Preview is useful when the driver wants to know upcoming turns before reaching them, especially in heavy traffic, complicated intersections, or unfamiliar city areas.
Repeat
1. Push
. System responds:
“OnStar ready,” then a tone.
2. Say “Repeat.” System responds with the last direction given, then responds with
“OnStar ready,” then a tone.
3. Say “Goodbye.” Exits voice commands.
This command can help if a direction was missed because of traffic noise, conversation, or a distraction inside the vehicle.
Get My Destination
1. Push
. System responds:
“OnStar ready,” then a tone.
2. Say “Get my destination.” System responds with miles to the destination, then
responds with “OnStar ready,” then a tone.
3. Say “Goodbye.” Exits voice commands.
This feature helps the driver confirm remaining distance without stopping the route or searching through the navigation display.
Other Navigation Services Available from OnStar
OnStar eNav allows subscribers to send destinations from Google Maps™ and MapQuest.com to their Turn-by-Turn Navigation or screen-based navigation system. This can make trip preparation easier because a destination can be selected before entering the vehicle and then used when the driver is ready to leave.
When ready, the directions will be downloaded to the vehicle. The driver should confirm that the destination is correct before beginning the route, especially when several businesses or addresses have similar names.
Destination Download:
Push
, then request the Advisor to
download directions to the navigation system in the vehicle.
After the call ends, push the “Go” button on the navigation screen to begin driving directions. Destinations can also be downloaded on the go when service coverage and system conditions allow.
For the Buick Enclave, OnStar navigation can be a helpful support feature during long trips, family travel, business driving, or route changes caused by road closures and traffic delays. For information about eNav, Destination Download, and coverage maps visit www.onstar.com.
