Buick Enclave: Drive Systems
All-Wheel Drive
Vehicles with this feature always send engine power to all four wheels. It is fully automatic and adjusts itself as needed for road conditions. The system is designed to help improve traction when the road surface changes, such as during rain, snow, gravel, or other low-grip situations.
All-Wheel Drive operates without the driver having to select a special mode. Under normal conditions, the system manages power delivery automatically. When traction demands change, it can adjust how power is distributed to support stable acceleration and improved control.
When using a compact spare tire on an AWD vehicle, the system automatically detects the compact spare and disables AWD.
To restore AWD operation and prevent excessive wear on the system, replace the compact spare with a full-size tire as soon as possible. See Compact Spare Tire for more information.
Driving for an extended period with a compact spare on an AWD vehicle can place unnecessary stress on the drivetrain. For the Buick Enclave, using the correct tire size and matching tire condition is important for smooth AWD operation and long-term system durability.
