Buick Enclave: CD Player
Playing a CD
To play a CD in the Buick Enclave, insert the disc partway into the slot with the label side facing up. The player will pull the disc in automatically, and playback should begin once the system reads the disc.
EJECT: Press and release this button to eject the disc that is currently playing. A beep sounds, and Ejecting Disc appears on the display. After the disc is ejected, Remove Disc appears, and the disc can be taken out of the slot. If the disc is not removed after several seconds, the player automatically pulls it back in to help protect it from being left partly outside the radio.
(Tune): Turn this control to select tracks on the CD that is currently playing.
Press © to return to the start of the current track if more than 10 seconds of that track have already played. Press ¨ SEEK to move to the next track.
If either arrow is held down, or pressed repeatedly, the player continues moving backward or forward through the tracks on the CD.
sREV (Fast Reverse): Press and hold this control to reverse quickly within the current track. Audio can still be heard, but at a reduced volume.
Release the control to resume normal playback. The elapsed time of the track appears on the display.
\FWD (Fast Forward): Press and hold this control to move quickly forward within the current track. Audio can still be heard at a reduced volume while fast forwarding.
Release the control to return to normal playback. The elapsed track time appears on the display so the driver can see the current playback position.
RDM (Random): The random setting allows CD tracks to play in a mixed order instead of the normal sequential order. To use this feature, press the softkey under the RDM label until Random Current Disc appears on the display.
Press the softkey again to turn random play off and return to normal track order.
BAND: Press this button to listen to the radio while a CD is in the player. The CD remains inside the radio and can be selected again later for continued listening.
CD/AUX (CD/Auxiliary): Press this button to switch between the CD player and an auxiliary input source.
► When a CD is loaded in the player, the CD icon appears along with a message showing the disc and/or track number.
► If an auxiliary input device is not connected, “No Input Device Found” appears on the display.
Care of CDs
When playing a CD-R or CD-RW, sound quality can vary depending on the quality of the disc, the recording method, the quality of the recorded music files, and how the disc has been handled. For the best performance in the Buick Enclave CD player, use clean, undamaged discs and handle them carefully.
Store CD-R and CD-RW discs in their original cases or in other protective cases, away from direct sunlight, heat, dust, and moisture. The CD player reads the bottom surface of the disc. If this surface is cracked, broken, scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged, the disc may not play correctly or may not play at all. Do not touch the bottom side of a CD when handling it. Hold discs by the outer edges, or by the center hole and the outer edge.
If the surface of a CD is dirty, clean it with a soft, lint-free cloth. If needed, slightly dampen a clean, soft cloth with a mild, neutral detergent solution mixed with water. Wipe the disc from the center outward toward the edge. Do not clean the disc in a circular motion, because this can make scratches more noticeable during playback.
Care of the CD Player
Do not attach adhesive labels or stickers to a CD. A label can loosen, peel, or get caught inside the CD player, which may damage the mechanism.
If a CD has been recorded on a personal computer and a description is needed, label only the top side of the recorded disc with a suitable marking pen. Avoid using paper labels or thick stickers.
The use of CD lens cleaners is not recommended. These products may not be suitable for the vehicle audio system and could affect the CD player mechanism.
Notice: If a label is added to a CD, more than one CD is inserted into the slot at the same time, or an attempt is made to play scratched, warped, cracked, or damaged CDs, the CD player could be damaged. While using the Buick Enclave CD player, use only CDs that are in good condition and do not have added labels. Load only one CD at a time, and keep the loading slot free of foreign objects, liquids, dust, and debris.
If an error message appears, see “CD Messages” later in this section.
Playing an MP3/WMA CD-R or CD-RW Disc
The radio can play MP3/WMA files recorded on a CD-R or CD-RW disc, when the disc format is supported by the system. For more information about playing MP3/WMA CD-R or CD-RW discs, see MP3 (Radio with CD/USB) or MP3 (Radio with CD/DVD) .
CD Messages
Check Disc: Radios with a single CD player may display Check Disc and/or eject the CD if the system detects a disc-related error.
Optical Error: The disc was inserted upside down. Remove the disc and insert it again with the label side facing up.
Disk Read Error: A disc was inserted with an invalid, unsupported, or unknown format that the player cannot read.
Player Error: There is a problem with disc loading or disc eject operation.
► The temperature inside the player or vehicle may be very hot. When the temperature returns to normal, the CD should play.
► The road surface may be very rough. When the road becomes smoother, the CD should play correctly again.
► The CD may be dirty, scratched, wet, damaged, or inserted upside down.
► The air may be very humid. If so, wait about an hour and try playing the disc again.
► There may have been a problem while the CD was being burned or recorded.
► A label or foreign material may be caught in the CD player.
If the CD still does not play correctly for another reason, try a known good disc to determine whether the problem is with the disc or the player.
If an error occurs repeatedly, or if the error cannot be corrected through normal use, contact your dealer. If the radio displays an error message, write the message down and provide it to your dealer when reporting the problem. This can help service personnel diagnose the Buick Enclave audio system more accurately.
