Buick Enclave: Vehicle Personalization

Buick Enclave 2008-2017 Owners Manual / Instruments and Controls / Vehicle Personalization

Your Buick Enclave may include vehicle customization features that allow certain functions to be programmed to a preferred setting.

Customization settings are stored as one selected vehicle preference. They cannot be programmed as separate preferred settings for two different drivers.

Not every customization option may be available on every vehicle.

Only the options supported by the vehicle will appear on the Driver Information Center (DIC).

The default customization settings were programmed when the vehicle left the factory. However, these settings may have been changed since then.

Once selected, customization preferences are recalled automatically.

To change the available customization preferences, use the procedure below.

Entering the Feature Settings Menu

1. Turn the ignition on and place the vehicle in P (Park).

To help prevent unnecessary battery drain while changing settings, it is recommended that the headlamps be turned off.

2. Press the customization button to enter the feature settings menu. If the menu is not available, FEATURE SETTINGS AVAILABLE IN PARK will appear on the display. Before entering the menu, make sure the vehicle is shifted into P (Park).

AUTO DOOR UNLOCK

This feature allows the automatic door unlocking function to be turned off or adjusted according to driver preference.

It also allows the driver to choose which doors unlock automatically and when the unlocking occurs. See Automatic Door Locks for more information.

DRIVER IN PARK: Only the driver door will unlock when the Buick Enclave is shifted into P (Park).

ALL AT KEY OUT: All doors will unlock when the key is removed from the ignition.

This setting can make daily use more convenient, especially when passengers regularly enter or exit the vehicle after the ignition is turned off.

Select the option that best matches how the Buick Enclave is typically used, then press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

ALL IN PARK (default): All doors will unlock automatically when the vehicle is shifted into P (Park).

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

REMOTE DOOR LOCK

This feature allows the driver to choose what type of confirmation is provided when locking the Buick Enclave with the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. Feedback will not be provided when locking with the RKE transmitter if any door is open. See Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation for more information.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

DELAY DOOR LOCK

This feature allows the driver to choose whether locking of the doors and liftgate will be delayed. When the doors and liftgate are locked using the power door lock switch while a door or the liftgate is open, delayed locking waits until five seconds after the last door or the liftgate has been closed before locking the vehicle.

Three chimes will sound to indicate that the delayed locking feature is active. The key must be out of the ignition for this feature to operate. This helps prevent the Buick Enclave from locking immediately while passengers are still entering, exiting, or closing the liftgate.

Delayed locking can be temporarily overridden by pressing the power door lock switch twice or by pressing the lock button on the RKE transmitter twice. See Delayed Locking for more information.

Press the customization button until DELAY DOOR LOCK appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following options:

OFF: Delayed locking will not be used for the vehicle doors.

ON (default): The doors and liftgate will not lock until five seconds after the last door or the liftgate is closed.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

EXIT LIGHTING

This feature allows the driver to select how long the exterior lamps remain on when it is dark enough outside.

Exit lighting is activated after the key is turned from ON/RUN to LOCK/OFF, helping provide temporary exterior illumination after leaving the vehicle.

This can be useful when parking the Buick Enclave in a driveway, garage entrance, parking lot, or another low-light area where a short period of additional lighting is helpful.

Press the customization button until EXIT LIGHTING appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following settings:

The selected exit lighting time will determine how long the lamps remain illuminated after the ignition is turned off, unless the feature is changed again through the DIC customization menu of the Buick Enclave.

OFF: The exterior lamps will not turn on after the ignition is turned off.

30 SECONDS (default): The exterior lamps will remain on for 30 seconds.

► 1 MINUTE: The exterior lamps will remain on for one minute.

► 2 MINUTES: The exterior lamps will remain on for two minutes.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired option is displayed on the DIC.

APPROACH LIGHTING

This feature allows the driver to choose whether the exterior lamps turn on briefly during low-light conditions after the vehicle is unlocked with the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.

Press the customization button until APPROACH LIGHTING appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to open the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the available options:

OFF: The exterior lamps will not turn on when the Buick Enclave is unlocked with the RKE transmitter.

ON (default): If it is dark enough outside, the exterior lamps will turn on briefly when the vehicle is unlocked with the RKE transmitter.

The lamps will remain on for approximately 20 seconds, or until the lock button on the RKE transmitter is pressed, or until the vehicle is no longer turned off.

See Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Operation for more information.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired option is displayed on the DIC.

CHIME VOLUME

This feature allows the driver to select the volume level used for vehicle chimes.

Press the customization button until CHIME VOLUME appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following options:

NORMAL: The chime volume will be set to a normal level.

LOUD: The chime volume will be set to a louder level, making alerts easier to hear in noisier driving conditions.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

There is no factory default selection for chime volume after it has been adjusted. The system keeps the last known setting selected for the Buick Enclave.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired option is displayed on the DIC.

PARK TILT MIRRORS

If the vehicle is equipped with this feature, it allows the driver to choose whether one or both outside mirrors automatically tilt downward when the vehicle is shifted into R (Reverse).

This can provide a better view of curbs, parking lines, and nearby objects while backing into or out of a parking space. See Park Tilt Mirrors for more information.

Press the customization button until PARK TILT MIRRORS appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following options:

PASSENGER MIRROR: The passenger outside mirror will tilt downward when the vehicle is shifted into R (Reverse).

BOTH MIRRORS: Both the driver and passenger outside mirrors will tilt downward when the vehicle is shifted into R (Reverse).

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired option is displayed on the DIC.

EASY EXIT SEAT

If the vehicle is equipped with this feature, it allows the driver to choose a preferred setting for the automatic easy exit seat function. See Memory Seats for more information.

Press the customization button until EASY EXIT SEAT appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following options:

OFF (default): No automatic seat exit recall will occur.

ON: The driver seat will move rearward when the key is removed from the ignition. On vehicles equipped with the power tilt and telescopic steering feature, the steering column will also move upward and forward to make exiting easier.

This feature can make the Buick Enclave more comfortable to enter and exit, especially when the driver seat is positioned closer to the steering wheel during normal driving.

See Steering Wheel Adjustment for more information.

The automatic easy exit seat movement will occur only one time after the key is removed from the ignition. If the automatic movement has already taken place, and the key is inserted into the ignition and removed again, the seat and steering column will remain in the original exit position unless a memory recall occurred before the key was removed again.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

MEMORY SEAT RECALL

If the Buick Enclave is equipped with this feature, it allows the driver to choose a preferred setting for remote memory seat recall. See Memory Seats for more information.

Press the customization button until MEMORY SEAT RECALL appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following settings:

OFF (default): No remote memory seat recall will occur.

ON: The driver seat and outside mirrors will automatically move to the stored driving position when the unlock button on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is pressed. On vehicles equipped with the power tilt and telescopic steering column, the steering column will also move to the stored position.

See Steering Wheel Adjustment for more information. See “Memory Remote Recall” under Memory Seats for more information about matching RKE transmitters to driver memory positions.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

REMOTE START

If the vehicle is equipped with this feature, it allows remote start to be turned on or off. Remote start lets the engine be started from outside the vehicle using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.

This feature can make the Buick Enclave more comfortable before driving by allowing the engine and climate system to begin operating before the driver enters the cabin. See Remote Vehicle Start for more information.

Press the customization button until REMOTE START appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following settings:

OFF: The remote start feature will be disabled.

ON (default): The remote start feature will be enabled.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

FACTORY SETTINGS

This feature allows all customization features to be returned to their original factory default settings.

Use this option if the current personalization choices are no longer preferred, or if the Buick Enclave needs to be restored to the standard settings originally programmed at the factory.

Press the customization button until FACTORY SETTINGS appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following settings:

RESTORE ALL (default): All customization features will be returned to their factory default settings.

DO NOT RESTORE: The customization features will not be changed, and the current settings will remain active.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

This feature allows the driver to leave the feature settings menu after customization is complete.

Press the customization button until FEATURE SETTINGS PRESS Set reset button prompt used to exit the Driver Information Center feature settings menu TO EXIT appears in the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to exit the menu.

If you do not exit the menu at this point, pressing the customization button again will return the display to the beginning of the feature settings menu.

Exiting the Feature Settings Menu

The feature settings menu will close automatically when any of the following occurs:

► The vehicle is shifted out of P (Park).

► The vehicle is no longer in ON/RUN.

► The trip/fuel or vehicle information DIC buttons are pressed.

► The end of the feature settings menu is reached and the menu is exited.

► A 40-second period passes without any selection being made.

After the menu is exited, the selected personalization settings remain stored and will be used the next time the Buick Enclave is operated.
