Buick Enclave: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Service Parts Identification Label
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

The Vehicle Identification Number, often called the VIN, is the legal identifier for the vehicle. It is located at the front corner of the instrument panel on the left side of the vehicle and can be viewed from outside through the windshield. This number is unique to the vehicle and is used for registration, ownership records, insurance, service history, parts identification, and warranty-related information.
The VIN also appears on the Vehicle Certification label, the Service Parts Identification label, certificates of title, and registration documents. When ordering parts, scheduling service, checking recalls, or discussing repairs, using the VIN helps confirm the exact vehicle configuration and reduces the chance of selecting the wrong component.
For the Buick Enclave, the VIN is especially useful because it helps identify factory equipment, production information, engine application, and other details that may affect replacement parts or service procedures. The VIN should be copied carefully, since even one incorrect character can point to a different vehicle or specification.
Engine Identification
The eighth character in the VIN is the engine code. This code identifies the vehicle's engine family, important specifications, and related replacement parts. It can be used by a dealer or parts professional to help verify correct service items such as engine components, belts, filters, fluids, and other parts that must match the vehicle configuration.
See “Engine Specifications” under Capacities and Specifications for the vehicle's engine code and related technical information. When comparing engine data, always match the information to the VIN rather than relying only on model name or appearance.
Service Parts Identification Label
The Service Parts Identification label is located on the inside of the glove box. This label provides important build information that can help identify the original equipment and service-related details of the vehicle. It is useful when checking paint codes, confirming options, ordering parts, or verifying special equipment installed at the factory.
This label includes the following information:
► Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).► Model designation.
► Paint information.
► Production options and special equipment.
Do not remove this label from the vehicle. If the label is damaged or missing, it may be more difficult to confirm original specifications, especially when ordering trim pieces, paint materials, electrical components, interior parts, or equipment-specific replacement items.
For accurate service on a Buick Enclave, the VIN and Service Parts Identification label should be used together whenever a repair, replacement part, or option-specific component is being confirmed.
