Parade Dimming

This feature automatically prevents the instrument panel displays from dimming during daylight when the headlamps are on, helping keep the displays visible and easy to read.

Battery Load Management

The vehicle is equipped with Electric Power Management (EPM), which estimates battery temperature and the battery state of charge. Based on this information, the system adjusts charging voltage to support proper electrical performance and help extend battery life.

When the battery state of charge is low, the system may raise voltage slightly to help restore the charge more quickly.

When the battery state of charge is high, the system may lower voltage slightly to help prevent overcharging. If the vehicle has a voltmeter gauge or a voltage display on the Driver Information Center (DIC), the displayed voltage may move up or down during normal operation. This is expected. If a problem is detected, an alert message will be displayed.

The battery can become discharged while the engine is idling if electrical demand is very high. This can happen on any vehicle.

This occurs because the generator, also called the alternator, may not be spinning fast enough at idle to produce all of the power required by high electrical loads.

► A high electrical load can occur when several systems are operating at the same time, such as headlamps, high beams, fog lamps, rear window defogger, climate control fan at high speed, heated seats, engine cooling fans, trailer electrical loads, and devices plugged into accessory power outlets.

In the Buick Enclave, EPM helps prevent excessive battery discharge by balancing generator output with the vehicle’s electrical needs.

The system can increase engine idle speed when additional electrical power is needed. It can also temporarily reduce the power demand of selected accessories.

Normally, these corrections happen gradually in steps or levels and may not be noticeable. In rare cases, when the system reaches higher levels of corrective action, the driver may notice the change. A DIC message may also appear, such as BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE, BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW, or LOW BATTERY.

If one of these messages appears, reduce electrical loads as much as possible by turning off unnecessary accessories. See Driver Information Center (DIC).

Battery Power Protection

This feature helps prevent the battery from being drained if the interior courtesy lamps or reading lamps are accidentally left on.

If any of these lamps are left on while the ignition is off, they will automatically turn off after approximately 10 minutes.

The lamps will not turn back on until one of the following occurs:

► The ignition is turned on.

► The exterior lamps control is turned off and then turned on again.

The headlamps will also time out after approximately 10 minutes if they are manually turned on while the ignition is either on or off.
