Buick Enclave: Add-On Electrical Equipment
Notice: Do not add anything electrical to the vehicle unless you check with your dealer first.
Some electrical equipment can damage the vehicle and the damage would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Some add-on electrical equipment can keep other components from working as they should.
Electrical add-ons should always be treated carefully because modern vehicle systems depend on many connected modules, sensors, wiring circuits, and control units. Even an accessory that seems simple, such as an aftermarket lighting kit, audio amplifier, tracking device, charger, or alarm system, can affect normal vehicle operation if it is not compatible or installed correctly.
Add-on equipment can drain the vehicle's 12-volt battery, even if the vehicle is not operating. A device that remains active while the ignition is off may slowly discharge the battery, which can lead to hard starting, warning messages, or a no-start condition.
The vehicle has an airbag system.
Before attempting to add anything electrical to the vehicle, see Servicing the Airbag-Equipped Vehicle and Adding Equipment to the Airbag-Equipped Vehicle .
For the Buick Enclave, electrical work should be planned with the vehicle’s safety systems in mind. Wiring routed near airbag components, seat belt pretensioners, steering column parts, or control modules can create serious safety and reliability concerns. When in doubt, have the work reviewed or performed by a qualified technician.
