Vehicle Messages
The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays vehicle messages to inform the driver when the status of a system has changed or when a specific action may be needed.
In the Buick Enclave, these messages are intended to help the driver notice important vehicle conditions early, before they develop into more serious concerns.
More than one message may appear in sequence, especially if several systems require attention at the same time.
Some messages do not require immediate action. In those cases, any DIC button on the instrument panel can be pressed to acknowledge the message and clear it from the display.
Other messages cannot be cleared right away because they are more urgent. These messages require the condition to be corrected before the display can be cleared. Always take DIC messages seriously. Clearing a message only removes it from the display; it does not repair the condition that caused the message to appear.
The following sections describe possible messages that may appear on the DIC and provide additional information about what they mean.
Battery Voltage and Charging Messages
BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE
This message appears when the system detects that battery voltage has dropped below the expected operating level. When this happens, the battery saver system begins reducing or disabling certain vehicle features to help preserve battery charge.
Some of these changes may be noticeable to the driver or passengers. When enough features have been limited or turned off, the BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE message is displayed to indicate that the vehicle is trying to conserve electrical power.
Turn off any unnecessary accessories, such as the radio, interior lighting, climate controls, heated features, or other electrical equipment, to help allow the battery to recover and recharge.
The normal battery voltage range is approximately 11.5 to 15.5 volts.
SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM
On some vehicles, this message is displayed when a problem is detected in the battery charging system.
Under certain conditions, the charging system light may also illuminate in the instrument panel cluster.
See Charging System Light. Driving the Buick Enclave with this condition may drain the battery and could eventually affect starting or electrical system operation. Turn off all unnecessary accessories and have the electrical system checked as soon as possible. See your dealer for service.
Brake System Messages
SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM
This message appears together with the brake system warning light when a problem with the brake system has been detected. See Brake System Warning Light for more information.
If this message appears, stop the Buick Enclave as soon as it is safe to do so and turn the vehicle off. Restart the vehicle and check whether the message still appears on the DIC display.
If the message remains displayed or appears again when you begin driving, the brake system needs service as soon as possible. Do not ignore this message, because braking performance may be affected. See your dealer.
