Reporting Safety Defects to the United States Government

If you believe that your vehicle has a defect that could cause a crash, injury, or death, you should immediately inform the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, also known as NHTSA, in addition to notifying General Motors. A safety-related concern should not be ignored, especially if it involves steering, braking, tires, airbags, seat belts, fire risk, loss of power, unintended movement, lighting failure, or another condition that could affect safe operation.

If NHTSA receives similar complaints, it may open an investigation. If the agency finds that a safety defect exists in a group of vehicles, it may order a recall and remedy campaign. Reporting a concern helps safety agencies identify patterns that may not be visible from one individual case alone.

However, NHTSA cannot become involved in individual problems between you, your dealer, or General Motors. For personal service disputes, repair questions, warranty concerns, or dealership communication issues, the dealer and General Motors customer assistance channels should still be contacted directly.

To contact NHTSA, you may call the Vehicle Safety Hotline toll-free at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); go to http://www.safercar.gov; or write to:

Administrator, NHTSA 1200 New Jersey Avenue, S.E.

Washington, D.C. 20590 You can also obtain other information about motor vehicle safety from http://www.safercar.gov.

When making a report, provide clear details such as the model year, make, model, VIN if available, mileage, date of the incident, driving conditions, warning messages, and a description of what happened. For a Buick Enclave safety concern, this information can help identify whether the issue may be isolated or part of a broader pattern.

Reporting Safety Defects to the Canadian Government

If you live in Canada and believe that the vehicle has a safety defect, notify Transport Canada immediately and also notify General Motors of Canada Limited. Safety defects should be reported when a condition could increase the risk of a crash, injury, loss of control, fire, restraint system concern, or another serious vehicle safety issue.

Call Transport Canada at 1-800-333-0510 or write to:

Transport Canada
Road Safety Branch
80 rue Noel
Gatineau, QC J8Z 0A1

Before contacting Transport Canada, gather the vehicle information, including the Vehicle Identification Number, current mileage, repair history related to the concern, and a clear description of the issue. If the problem has happened more than once, include the dates, driving conditions, and whether any warning lights or messages appeared.

Reporting Safety Defects to General Motors

In addition to notifying NHTSA or Transport Canada in a situation like this, please notify General Motors. Reporting the concern to General Motors helps the manufacturer review the issue, document the vehicle information, and guide the owner toward the appropriate customer assistance or service process.

Call 1-800-521-7300, or write:

(French), or write:

When contacting General Motors about a Buick Enclave safety-related concern, include the owner name, contact information, VIN, mileage, dealer name if the vehicle has been inspected, repair order numbers, and a concise explanation of the condition. Photos, videos, inspection notes, and service records may also help explain the concern more clearly.
