Buick Enclave: Passenger Compartment Air Filter
The passenger compartment air filter helps remove dust, pollen, and other airborne irritants from the air entering the cabin. It also filters inside air when the system is operating in recirculation mode. A clean filter supports better airflow, helps reduce unwanted particles inside the vehicle, and can improve overall climate system performance.
Over time, the filter can become restricted by dust, leaves, pollen, and road debris. When this happens, airflow from the vents may become weaker, odors may be more noticeable, or the heating and air conditioning system may take longer to change the cabin temperature. Regular inspection and replacement help keep the Buick Enclave cabin more comfortable and cleaner for passengers.
To find out what type of replacement filter to use, see Maintenance Replacement Parts. Using the correct filter size and type is important because an improper filter may not seal correctly inside the housing or may reduce airflow through the system.
1. Open the glove box.

2. Twist the compartment retainers (A) and pull outward to remove.
3. Lower the instrument panel compartment assembly (B) beyond the stops.
4. If needed, unsnap the instrument panel compartment assembly (B) from the instrument panel.
When reinstalling, be sure the instrument panel compartment dampener arm is aligned properly to the dampener gear assembly. Correct alignment helps the glove box open and close smoothly and prevents damage to the dampener mechanism.

5. Squeeze the housing cover (A) tabs to remove.
6. Remove the old air filter from the passenger compartment air filter housing (B).
7. Install the new air filter. Make sure it is seated evenly in the housing and positioned in the correct direction if an airflow arrow is marked on the filter.
8. Replace the housing cover and confirm that the tabs lock securely into place.
9. If removed, reinstall the instrument panel compartment assembly.
10. Reinstall the compartment retainers.
See your dealer if additional assistance is needed. If the housing cover does not fit securely, the glove box assembly does not align correctly, or airflow remains weak after replacement, professional inspection may be required.
Replacing the passenger compartment air filter at the proper interval is a simple but important maintenance step. It helps the climate control system breathe properly, supports better cabin comfort, and keeps the interior air cleaner during daily driving, road trips, and seasonal weather changes.
